How long is the recovery following the extraction of my wisdom teeth?
Recovery can be approximately 5 to 12 days depending on the difficulty of the extractions.
What can eat after having oral surgery?
Soft foods that do not require forceful chewing. (ie: eggs, mashed potatoes, yogurt)
How is sedation administered?
Sedation is medication given through an intravenous catheter.
How long do I apply ice packs to my face after surgery?
Ice should be applied 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off for the first 24 hours.
How long do oral surgery procedures take?
Procedures can take 10 minutes to 1 hour depending on the complexity of the procedure.
Can I be sedated on my first visit?
it is recommended to have a consultation visit prior to being sedated. This allows for a complete history taking session and full anesthesia instructions.
Do I need to have stitches removed?
The stitches are usually resorbable, therefore there is no need for removal.
How long does the swelling last?
Swelling will peak on the second to third day and will last for approximately 1 week.
Can I eat before my procedure?
There is no eating or drinking for at least 8 hours prior to an IV sedation. If the procedure is to be done under local anesthesia patients may have a small meal prior to treatment.
Can a family member stay with a patient during the procedure?
During a surgical procedure only qualified surgical staff members are allowed to be present during a procedure.

Will I need to take Xrays in the office?
It is often necessary to take a panoramic xray of the teeth and jaws prior to oral surgical procedures, which allows a more comprehensive view of most anatomic structures that can impact the surgical procedure.
